Remote Port Connection to DonkeyCar

I’m trying to see if I can work on my DonkeyCar remotely. I’ve tried using Dataplicity and trying to connect with port 8887 using their clients but no luck. They have a default browser connection to RaspberryPi posrt 80 but so far I’ve been unsuccessful when changing references to port 887 to port 80, or having port 80 point to port 8887.

Alternatively I’m looking to use AWS or Azure to get the same functionality but I’m a littler lost on how to have the Tornado server created over wifi show up over an internet connection. I don’t have WIFI control to expose the port either

I’ve also tried putting this into

basic_web.py

iptables -A INPUT -i eth0 -p tcp --dport 80 -j ACCEPT
iptables -A INPUT -i eth0 -p tcp --dport 8080 -j ACCEPT
iptables -A PREROUTING -t nat -i eth0 -p tcp --dport 8887 -j REDIRECT --to-port 80

but it didn’t work

Hi Neural,

Dataplicity is a connection broker and you did not need to open anything at your PI.
Install the agent, configure it for your Dataplicity account and go.
That’s all. No need for incoming firewall rules.

Cheers
Chrimo

BTW: I use OpenVPN and WireGuard for such scenarios - using a small linux server (broker) at at AWS, Azure or somewhere in the world.
